Today we show you a recipe for a simple and incredibly delicious Austrian dessert called Cardinal. It is suitable for both everyday and holiday table.

Ingredients for Biscuit:

Egg yolks - 4 pcs.
Sugar - 40 g
Salt - 1 pinch
Orange peel - 1 tsp.
Orange juice - 40 ml
Flour - 50 g
Baking powder - 2 g

For meringue:

Egg whites - 4 pcs.
Salt - 1 pinch
Powdered Sugar - 120 g

For cream:

Cream 33% - 350 ml
Powdered Sugar - 120 g
Coffee (strong) - 30 ml

Austrian dessert Cardinal.

Dessert preparation:

1. For the biscuit dough, combine the yolks, sugar, salt, zest and orange juice. Mix everything with a mixer. Sift flour with baking powder and gently mix it into the dough with a spatula.

2. Beat whites with a pinch of salt, gradually adding powdered sugar.

3. From a pastry bag onto a baking sheet greased with butter, put 3 strips of protein and between them 2 strips of biscuit. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

4. Bake the cakes for 35 minutes at a temperature of 140 degrees.

5. To prepare the cream, whip the cream with icing sugar and strong coffee.

6. Cut the cooled cakes in half and put one on one, smearing each cream. Also decorate all ends with cream.

7. Send the dessert for several hours in the refrigerator and it will be ready.
